The Butterfly Effect: Migration is Beautiful
WORKSHOP: 11:15am - 12:15pm The Butterfly Effect is a youth led project to raise awareness of migrant children in US detention. Please join Kaia (age 12) and Lily (age 11), co-leaders of the Butterfly Effect, as they share more about how they started this project, and how they have led the creation of over 45,000 butterflies so far! Kaia & Lily will talk about their journey so far with the Butterfly Effect, and will then work with attendees to create butterflies to add to the movement!

Making Change Through Fashion: Self Expression and Aesthetic Activism
WORKSHOP: 11:15am - 12:15pm This interactive workshop and presentation will look at fashion and style as primary forms of self expression and how they intersect and become forms of activism. We will be learning about fashion activism in recent history and contemporary times, as well as appreciating the aesthetics that defined various historical movements. With fashion and style tips and tricks scattered throughout the workshop, we will conclude with a small fashion oriented creative opportunity for participants. Anyone Can Make Comics and Everyone Should Try
WORKSHOP: 11:15am - 12:15pm WORKSHOP: 12:30 - 1:30pm San Jose-based cartoonist Ryan Johnson teaches you how to draw and make mini-comics and zines, and goes into why comics are the most accessible art form for self-expression. Recommended for ages 13+ (there'lll be some discussion of comic-theory stuff).

Revolution on my Tongue: A Writing Workshop with Youth Speaks
WORKSHOP: 12:30 - 1:30pm This workshop is for the writers and the folks that don't necessarily see themselves as writers but think they got something to say. Come put pen to page with Youth Speaks poet mentor, Gabriel Cortez, in this interactive session, where we will explore our voice, our stories, and our relationship to the important movements for justice that came before us. Participants will walk away with a fresh new poem that they can share with their community.

PANEL: 1:30 - 2:15pm Sketch Smith, owner of Hella Novella, interviews three Bay Area artists about what, why, and how they create what they make. They'll touch on animation, storytelling, character creation, and how fashion can be (and is) political.

ALL DAY Join San Francisco artists Jason Wyman (striped shirt) and the Art Speak Interns from the Asian Art Museum at a table full of paper, comics, markers, glue, pastels, and zine templates. You'll learn the basics of making a zine, chat about what you believe, and walk away with your own completed zine.
