What is Youth Justice ComicCon?
The San Francisco Youth Justice Comic Con is a free event for youth bridging the activism of the Bay Area with the fandom of comics, anime and pop culture.The event will feature zine-making, drawing jam, a cosplay parade, exhibitor booths, and workshops facilitated by local artists and activists.
Who can attend?
ComicCon is aimed towards youth, 18 and under, and their families. Admission is free.
Who can present?
We are looking for youth contributors interested in displaying or selling their art (comics, zines). Youth can display work or use ½ table to sell or present their ‘zines. Work exploring issues of social justice encouraged.
Is it only comic artists?
No, there will be booths represented by social justice non-profit organizations.
Who’s involved?
We are a diverse group of librarians, artists, educators, and organizers from SFUSD, Lick-Wilmerding, the Cartoon Art Museum, and SF Zine Fest. We’re also partnering with local artists, comic book stores, and youth arts programs to produce workshops, panels, creator spaces, and vendors.
When will it take place?
This ComicCon will take place Saturday February 29th, 11am-3pm.
